Beauty Trend: The Ballerina Bun

Well, maybe not, but they should – because of those sleek leotards, delicate shoes that invoke a powerful gracefulness, and that chic ballerina bun.

The hair pulled high off the face slicked back into a perfect, tight little bun never disturbs the challenging moves the Ballerina must demonstrate.

It’s an easy hair look to achieve, and takes years off the face. It will keep those long locks off your neck on those hot summer nights, and can look casual or dressed up, depending on the intensity and styling.

Designers are taking inspiration from those pretty little Ballerinas, and applying their style to the runways.

Nanette Lepore is soft and natural with a pulled back bun and colorful makeup (left). Charlotte Ronson spins a high bun on top of a models head for a fashion forward twist (right).

Bottega Veneta shows off a messy do with a wide, elastic headband, delicate flyaways, and an unfinished bun (left). Teased, twisted and pulled into a high ponytail, Lanvin’s ballerina bun looks elegant with smoky eyes and nude lips (right).

Whether you choose a look that is messy after a day of intense rehearsal, or a look that’s more pretty and perfect, this is a style to get on board with for summer.
