Beauty Trend: Strong Eyes, Soft Lip

This was most memorable on Diane Von Furstenberg’s runway, where MAC make-up artist James Kaliardos layered black cream shadow with blue and green shades, and then added sparkles to the inner corners for a multi-dimensional, 70s-inspired look.

To finish off the smokey look, Kaliardos lined the models’ waterline with MAC’s Smolder pencil for more definition, before using MAC’s Zoomblack mascara.

This trend was also re-iterated when Chanel showed their collection. The brand’s Fall 2010 collection just hit counters, and it’s a clear play on a contrast between intense, dark eyes and shimmering, neutral lips.

Under the direction of Peter Philips, Global Creative Director of Chanel Makeup, a slew of new products have been introduced, including a gorgeous Taupe Grise eye shade, and four new Levres Scintillantes Glossimer shades: Petite Peche, a pale peach; Coral Love, a bright coral shimmer; Rose Dilemma, a soft pink; and Teaser, a vivid pink. You can layer these over matte lipstick if you’re into the dramatic glossy look, or just play up your natural color with some extra color and shine.
