Feather hair extensions are the latest spring trend to pop up, even before the last of winter’s snow has fallen. Tucking a strand of feathers into your mane may be just what you need to get yourself out of winter’s funk and excited for a truly bohemian spring.

For $45 and about 10 minutes, the staff at Wendy Nichol’s Sullivan Street location in New York City can add a feathery flare to your ‘do. The best part of the feather extensions is that you can treat them like regular hair extensions; they can be brushed, washed, blow-dried and styled!
Luckily, there’s no need for animal rights activists to fret over this trend, Nichol told Refinery29 that “the feathers are sourced responsibly, the colors are all-natural, and come from farm-raised happy birds.”
Curious about how the extensions work? Take a peek at this video of stylist Theodore Leaf from The Hair Shop in Los Angeles. For a DIY version you can do at home, here are some affordable feather clips at etsy.com.
