Ready, Set, Sit: Travel Products to Get You Through an Epic Flight

After pestering my coworkers and fellow travelers with nonsensical rhetorical questions like, “Twelve hours! How will you keep sane!?” I knew I needed to create an in-flight beauty essential carry-on situation to alleviate my physical and mental stress. Plus, what could be more fun than shopping for miniatures of all my favorite products?

I solicited friends far and near: beauty editors, travel writers and a former flight attendant friend, not to mention the poor saleswoman at Sephora who so graciously gave me an hour of her time on a busy Saturday. I was armed and ready when I stepped foot on that Hawaiian Air flight and miraculously made it through to the bitter end, not looking too shabby when we touched down in Honolulu (if I do say so myself). Even better? My carry-on kit has since come to my beauty rescue on flights to Dublin, Paris and London (all just last week).

With summer right around the corner, now’s the time to stock up on travel-sized goodies to keep you going whilst en route to the most remote locales. Check out my top picks:

Josie Maran Argan Oil – Safe to say everything on your packing list needs the ability to pull double duty. This Argan Oil can be used on skin (rough patches), hair (split ends) and nails (gnarly cuticles) for a dose of Vitamin E and essential fatty acids to keep you hydrated on any flight.

The Body Shop Vitamin C Energizing Face Spritz – Words cannot describe how good it feels to spray this on tired, dull, post-flight skin. The Vitamin C boosts collagen production and improves elasticity (supposedly) – a must for any carry-on.

When Essence Gel Mask – If you can stand the perplexed stares of seatmates, tear into this bio-cellulose sheet mask and bask in cool, calming skin relief. Coconut juice, grapefruit seed and ginseng leave your face feeling soft, clean and nourished.

Herban Essentials Towelette Wipes – Forget the harsh, alcohol-laden hand sanitizers of yesteryear. These wipes feature all-natural essential oils that smell amazing and are customized for your mood or activity.

And when all else fails, just make sure you have a giant bottle of water and a healthy dose of patience. You didn’t think I got through that Hawaii flight on beauty products alone, did you??
