Healthier Alternatives to the Brazilian Blowout

The Brazilian Blowout is a semi-permanent hair smoothing treatment that eliminates frizz and protects hair by creating a layer of protein around each strand. For the busy woman, this was perfect. But, as they say, all good things must come to an end.

According to the U.S Food and Drug Administration, It has recently come to light that the Brazilian Blowout treatment contains chemicals that may cause cancer. The Daily Mail reports that stylists around the country have been complaining that the product makes them cough and has reddened the eyes of customers. The culprit? Varying levels of formaldehyde. Although it has not been banned in the United States (yet!), officials are looking into the product to see if it is an actual danger. In the meantime, Canada has issued a warning about the potential health problems that could arise from the Blowout.
