Hair Trends to Try: Splitting Hairs with Ryan Nickulas

Celebrity stylist Ryan Nickulas (catch him on The A-List New York on Logo TV) gives us the dish on living a fabulously beautiful life in Splitting Hairs: Ryan Nickulas’ Guide to the Luxe Life, his new column for The Fashion Spot.

Hi Sugars! Even though the weather hasn’t quite warmed up here in NYC, I’ve got Spring beauty on the brain. Lately, I’ve been checking out fresh looks everywhere—from the runways and red carpets to all the stylish gals strutting the city sidewalks. Here’s what’s trending now…and how to wear it, no matter your style personality!

The 70s are huge this season—from ombre hair, flared jeans, flatforms, prints, and mega glitz, the decade of decadence is everywhere. One big tress trend that plays up the bohemian vibe of the era that’s all over the place are feather hair extensions. Jennifer Love Hewitt and Hilary Duff rocked the funky look, and you can too. Fine Featherheads makes them in just about every color you can think of! Plus, these look amazing on anyone, whether you’re a fashionista, goth, or a relaxed boho gal.

Classic Chic

If you’re not into uber-trendy looks, you want to look polished…and there’s no better way than a sleek, super-chic bob! This is the easiest way to look all dolled-up and gorgeous in a flash—there’s literally no faster blowout, so you can hit the gym hard to score your bikini bod and still make it to work on time! Cate Blanchett’s a prime example of the pulled-together sophistication of this style.

Red Haute

If you’re already over ombre color, then you’ve got to try the season’s hottest hue: red! But, don’t worry—you can rock the look without going all out vivid like RiRi. The newest version is a rich, vibrant crimson with splashes of gold tones. The major plus is you don’t have the commitment of a Rihanna red or even Julianne Moore’s color–where you’re locked into toning out the red constantly, or even spending thousands on color correction if it doesn’t look so hot!
