The Smell of Independence Day: BBQ Perfume

Earlier this year, we reported that Lady Gaga was in the midst of yet another over-the-top project and was creating a “semen and blood” scented fragrance. We thought it was safe to say that no one would ever buy such a foul smelling scent, but it turns out odd perfumes are hitting the market left, right, and center. Thanks to the company Pork Barrel BBQ, women now have the option of alluring their love interests with a barbecue-scented perfume called Que.

If only we were kidding.

Before you blow off the idea of smelling like a rack of ribs, consider this: this isn’t the first meat-scented fragrance to be put on the market. There is clearly a demand for this strange commodity. Three years ago, Burger King released Flame, a hamburger-scented spray for men which they claimed smelled like “seduction with a hint of flame-broiled meat.” It’s hard to say who actually bought this product or how well it did, but for those of you who long for your men to smell like a BK Whopper, you can still buy it at places like Ricky’s for $4.

With the holidays just around the corner, we think we’ll smell enough delicious barbecues to last us until Labor Day, so for now we’re going pass on the meat perfume. Thanks anyway, Pork Barrel BBQ.
