Could there be a more fitting place than the posh Plaza Hotel for Marchesa designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig to stage their first runway show? Even the food laid out for the models and staffers looked glam amidst lush flower arrangements. The first model I spotted when I walked in was Karolina Kurkova. The second, Charlotte Free. Needless to say Marchesa pulled out all the stops for Spring 2012.
For hair, the red carpet favored brand partnered with Frederic Fekkai. Renato Campora worked on creating a sleek, modern look as a contrast, he says, to the space and collection itself. He wanted to create a style that was fresh and fashion-forward yet simple enough so as not to compete with the complexity of the garments. The resulting look was incredibly refined, with models’ hair pulled back in a strict, beautifully wrapped ponytail.

To get the look, start with dry hair. Apply Fekkai Coiff Strong Hold Volume Mouse throughout hair. Follow with an iron. Create a side part at the top of the head and separate this section of hair. Pull the remaining hair into a low ponytail. Use the separated section to wrap around the top of the ponytail and conceal the band. Separate the ponytail and create a tightly knotted fishtail three inches below the knot. Use Fekkai Coiff Nonchalant Piecing and Forming Wax to add shine to the tips. Secure the look with a generous amount of Fekkai Sheer Hold Hairspray.

As for makeup, Marchesa partnered with Le Metier de Beaute, a brand they've collaborated with on beauty products in the past. Talia Shobrook created the look which she describes as "enchanting water nymph with untamed hair and a hauntingly beautiful face. Cheeks and eye are subtly sculpted and highlighted for a luminous glow." Honestly, the makeup looked so flawlessly natural it was hard to tell that some of the models were wearing any at all.
To get the look, prep the face with Peau Vierge Tinted Treatment Fluid to fade away lines. Create a clean, youthful face and cover blemishes with Classic Flawless Finish Concealer and then apply Marchesa for Le Metier de Beaute Sheer Illumination Brightener on eyelids to get rid of dark circles, bridge of nose, forehead, and chin. Contour face with Eye Brightening & Setting Powder in Revive and gently brush it around eyes and beneath the lower lash line. Define cheek bones by brushing them with Radiance Powder Rouge in Whisper and finish by sweeping Classic Flawless Finish Loose Powder all over face.
On eyes dab Marchesa for Le Metier de Beaute Sheer Illumination Highlighter on the center of eyelids and Magic Lustre Creme all over. Sweep white or clear glitter across the lids and in the corner of the eye before applying Anamorphic Lash Mascara in Black. Lips were lightly stained with Creme Fresh Tints in Ginger Lily or Colour Core Moisture Stain Lipstick in Bali.
