Why we like it: Dianna Agron is an unlikely beauty star but she continues to impress with her subtle dramatic looks and age appropriate color palettes. We also love this look because she’s breaking the rules. As recent as a few years ago, if a celebrity wore blue eyeliner with a blue dress, or blue eyeliner at all, she would be an automatic worst dressed, but Agron’s navy kohl eye is wonderfully modern and completely chic.
How to get it at home: With a look such as this, it’s important to have a flawless base. The eyes are where you’re drawn automatically when you look at someone but any imperfections on the skin can detract from a statement color. Start by applying a microperfecting or mineral foundation such as Bobbi Brown’s Skin Foundation Mineral Makeup SPF 15 $38 for a flawless look. Next fill in your eyebrows with a subtle color very similar to your natural hair color. Use a pencil such as Benefit’s Instant Brow Pencil $20 and work only within the natural shape of your brow. Take a peachy pink blush such as NARS’ Blush in Orgasm $27 and blend a small amount into the apple of your cheeks.
To get Dianna’s killer eye, you’ll need two soft kohl eyeliners such as Laura Mercier’s Kohl Eye Pencil $19: one in black and one in navy. Apply the black pencil on the waterline inside the eye and the navy around the outer lash line and blend the navy liner outwards towards the corner of the eye. Use false eyelashes or a few coats of a good mascara on curled eyelashes to accentuate the look. Finish with a pigmented gloss or shiny lipstick such as Givenchy’s Rouge Interdit Shine Lipstick in Beige Shine $29 or another pinky nude color.
