Luxury fashion (at least full price), may arguably still be going through a rough patch, but there’s no stopping a woman from splurging on her beauty regimen. From near $50 lipsticks to newbie scents from Cartier, 2011 brought with it plenty of worthy indulgences. Not to be outdone, drugstores gave us equal reason to get excited with innovative, big-bang-for-your-buck finds. Here’s a look at the 10 best of the year.
Cartier Baiser Vole
Cartier Baiser Vole Eau de Parfum, $145
Aside from Tom Ford's White Suede, there's no fragrance I've worn that consistently gets as many compliments as this one from Cartier, which is based solely on the lily.
Almay Makeup Remover
Almay Oil-Free Makeup Eraser Sticks, $5.49
A handy makeup removing Q-tip, just snap this stick on one end and the liquid from the center stem flows down to the other end making it an ideal spot-fix tool.
Yes to Blueberries Eye Roller
Yes to Blueberries Brightening Eye Roller, $19.99
There's nothing like the cooling sensation of this eye roller in the morning to wake up tired eyes. Also worth singling out is the brand's Acne Roller Ball Spot Stick ($9.99).
Hourglass Film Noir
Hourglass Film Noir Lash Lacquer, $28
When black is not black enough, reach for this lacquer after your mascara application.
Oribe Apres Beach Wave and Shine Spray
Oribe Apres Beach Wave and Shine Spray, $35
Not only does this spray work wet or dry, it's moisturizing while imparting hold and shine.
Soap & Glory
Soap & Glory is back! Founded by one of the women behind cult-fave salon Bliss, Soap & Glory was stocked at Target until it was, seemingly out of the blue, gone from shelves. Lucky for fans of the affordable, tongue-in-cheek, high quality brand, in late 2011 Sephora picked it up and now exclusivly carries the brand in their U.S. stores.
Tom Ford Beauty
It's little wonder that the launch of his beauty collection set off a shopping frenzy — everything from the packaging to the quality is immaculate.
The Muppets x OPI
The Muppets x OPI, $8.50
Muppets partnerships were a dime a dozen this year — and so were new nail polish collections — but none were as memorable as the one between The Muppets and OPI.
Nip + Fab
Founded by the woman behind luxury skincare brand Rodial, Nip + Fab takes the same cheeky approach as its high-end counterpart (known for products like Skinny Beach, Boob Job, and Tummy Tuck), with a line of 24 affordable products, all now sold at Target, that includes Dry Leg Fix, Bust Fix, and Sheer Makeup Fix.
Super by Dr. Perricone Daylight Savings SPF 25 Moisturizer
Super by Dr. Perricone Daylight Savings SPF 25 Moisturizer, $38
Among the new products launched this year, as part of Dr. Perricone's skincare line based on the power of superfoods, was this moisturizing SPF that utilizes the reparative benefits of turmeric (packed with an antioxidant called curcumin), to help heal skin affected by UV damage and prevent future damage.
