Big Bang Theories

But designers are not the only ones embracing this trend. Celebrities have also turned to bangs for their latest makeovers. Since bangs are the best way to dramatically change your look without having to chop off the length of your locks or change your hair color, A-listers have been sporting fringe all over tinsel town. Country superstar, Taylor Swift, took a big risk when she agreed to change her usually curly locks for a more polished image after Vogue suggested the change. Then again, is there anyone who would say No to Anna? Taylor debuted the sleek and more sophisticated do with blunt heavy bangs for her first cover of Vogue. Another bang-hit came from Reese Witherspoon who is almost always sporting some form of fringe, whether it’s side swept or wispy. Most recently, Reese has been working a piecey version that skims her eyebrows and gives off a more youthful look.

While Reese and Taylor look gorgeous with their long golden locks and wispy bangs, you don’t have to have Rapunzel tresses to work a great fringe. Rooney Mara, who is known and even praised for her fashion-forward style, gave her dark short hair extra edge by adding full blunt bangs. While blunt bangs might seem difficult to style, they are actually versatile and practical. Just piece them out by misting your comb with hairspray and running it through your fringe to break them up a bit. Other celebrities who have shown an edgier bang style include Leighton Meester and Rose Byrne. Leighton Meester’s razor cut bangs look sexy, edgy, and are a far cry from Leighton’s alter-ego, Blair Waldorf, who carries a more girly and classy look.

If you are not ready to embrace the bang change yet, you can always try them without having to commit to a scissor session. Celebrities like Kim Kardashian apply a faux clip-on version for a glamorous night out on the town. And for those of you who were courageous but are now ready to move on, do like Olivia Wilde and style them to the side until they grow out. This is also a great time to buy cute hair accessories like clips and headbands to keep your growing fringe from looking messy and unkempt.
