Backstage Beauty with Justin St. Clair: J. Mendel Fall 2012

Soft, beautiful, flattering, fluid, and luxurious, the J. Mendel Fall 2012 Collection was all this in fine balance. A great reverence for femininity and an experience of the lavish without even a hint of vulgarity seemed to describe the work.

This Maybelline sponsored show was headed by the marvelous Charlotte Tilbury, who created a warm, sculpted look that when applied to any woman would certainly flatter and reveal sophistication.

Sumptuous browns define the eyes in a gentle elongated wash from lash to crease, and under the eye to meet at the outer corners. Mascara on the upper lashes deepens the intensity, while the eyes are completed by defined yet dulcet brows. Fresh pink and light cinnamon softly flush the apple of the cheeks ending under the cheek bones to create a subtle contour. And finally, rose beige lipstick finishes the lips.

Like the collection, the makeup seems effortless, elegant, and balanced but is truly accomplished through restraint and the developed eye. Very easy to spot but often much harder to accomplish without direction.
