Elizabeth Banks: Beauty Look of the Week

Who: Elizabeth Banks

Where: The Berlin premiere of The Hunger Games

Why we like it: We’re always told to never match your makeup to your dress but sometimes taking inspiration results in a noteworthy look. Elizabeth Banks’ warm coral tones shouldn’t work with her bright orange dress but they do.

How to get it at home: A glowing face is key to this look. Start by applying an illuminating primer, such as Dior’s Skinflash Primer $42, which will allow the high points of your face to catch the light without another highlighter. Next, apply a foundation, such as NARS’ Sheer Glow $42. If you can, try applying it just to the center of your face. This will allow the rest of your skin to glow naturally. Use a taupe or brown shadow to fill in your brows but run your finger over them as you do it to soften any lines. To get Elizabeth’s pale pink eye, first apply a primer, such as Urban Decay’s Eyeshadow Primer Potion $20, all across the lid and up to the brow bone. Next, take a matte pink shadow, such as Make Up For Ever’s Eyeshadow in Cotton Candy 88 $19. Be sure to bring the shadow all the way up onto the brow bone and blend it to a soft edge.

Curl your lashes and apply your favorite mascara. Applying your mascara before applying false lashes means a better curl and a more natural finish. Apply lashes, such as Sephora Collection’s False Eye Lashes in Astonish $8, with tweezers for more precise application. To make this look daytime appropriate, opt for individual lashes in the outer corner for more definition. Finish your look with a coral/pink gloss, such as Buxom’s Big & Healthy Lip Polish in Debbie $18.
