With the Queen's Diamond Jubilee just past and the Olympics on the horizon, it's a great time to shine the spotlight on British brands. We've compiled a few of our favourites that we think represent some of the stars of British beauty.
You can't get more British than this blinged out bottle but gimmicks aside, Nails Inc's formula is just as exciting as the brand's playful polish names. Conservative painters can stick with the brand's many opaque shades but thrill seekers can play with glitter, shimmer, and magnetized polishes too.
Jubilee Crystal Colour, £15
Many fashion brands have delved into makeup but few as seamlessly as Burberry. Not only is the packaging beautiful, but the quality of the products is incredible. The eyeshadows in particular have impressive pigmentation, blend well, and come at a reasonable price point when you consider the amount of product. Definitely the pride of Britain.
Eye Shadow, £22.50
The brand's Deep Dry Leg Oil needs no introduction but a spotlight also shines on its cleansers. This rosewater product effectively, and gently, removes makeup, grime, and dirt from your skin as well as brightening your complexion. It's the UK's answer to cult French product Bioderma Crealine Solution.
Clean Skin 5-in-1 Water, £21
Often voted one of the best cleansers in the world, this product and others from the UK-based skincare brand have earned it quite the reputation. Though it lacks somewhat in flash, and definitely in fragrance, the quality of the product is near unmatched.
Percy & Reed
I often find that the best hair care products always come from salon developed brands. Percy & Reed aren't just two of the most in demand stylists in London, but also developers of some incredible masks and styling products.
Brilliantly Beautiful Superglossing Mask, £18
Now the overwhelming scent of the shops may put you off but there are gems to be found at the fragrant retailer. If beach hair's your thing, you might want to look into the brand's Big shampoo. Sea salt, coconut oil, and sea water work to give you big, tousled hair without the sand.
Big Shampoo, £10.95
This quintessentially British brand has something for everyone and even if you're not a cologne kind of person, the candles and bath products are simply irresistible.
Lime Basil & Mandarin Cologne, £38
With cheeky names and quality formulas, it's hard to fault this natural, country-born brand. It's proof that organic isn't a bad word and doesn't mean skimping on results-driving active ingredients.
Wild Cow Invigorating Body Lotion, £18
No 7 & 17
These Boots-own brands are hardly a secret but it takes a while to find those golden gem products. For example, 17's Lasting Fix Lipstick is one of my absolute favorite high street formulas. It lasts all day, isn't thick or sticky, and offers great colour payoff. No 7 also offers access to luxury quality products, such as lipsticks from Poppy King, at very affordable prices.
No 7 Poppy King Lipstick, £12
17 Lasting Fix Lipstick, £4.29
Soap and Glory
This line has finally hit stateside and American customers are reaping the benefits of this affordable brand. Known for its bright and colourful packaging, as well as the results its products deliver, Soap and Glory is definitely worth being on the worldwide radar.
Glow Job Daily Radiance Moisture Lotion, £9
