ICB by Prabal Gurung Spring 2014 Backstage Beauty Spring: Get Ready to Party

This season, Prabal Gurung was inspired by raves for his Spring 2014 ICB collection, which was also reflected in the hair, makeup and nail looks chosen to complement the designer’s collection.

L’Oréal Professionnel lead stylist Anthony Turner told me that only fingers were used to achieve the hair look. “The idea was to do their hair in the same way a skater boy would to give the girls an unkept, cool attitude, which is why no brushes or combs were used.” The resulting hair was a messy middle part matte look achieved with L’Oreal’s Professionnel Expansion, Lift Extreme, Fresh Dust, Infinium 3 and Volumetry Root Spray, all of which are products you can use on your hair to style it “if it hasn’t been washed in a few days,” says Turner.

Makeup-wise, MAC took the raver theme and ran with it. Skin was kept clean and natural with the exception of some taupe blush for sculpting and the main focus was on a multidimensional eye created with multiple layers of glitter on the inner corners.

For nails, Butter London used its nail foundation and Leccy shade with holographic foil placed down the center of the nail. Then they gave a glitter tip to an accent finger.
