So Glam: All the Products, Tips and Tricks You Need This Holiday Season

The holidays are my favorite time of the year for beauty. When you don't lead a red carpet life, you don't have a lot of chances to try out runway hairstyles or go all out with your makeup. But around the holidays, amped up beauty is practically expected. Rolling up to the office with full makeup and cherry red lips doesn't cause a second glance and hitting happy hour with friends goes from casual drinks to cocktail party in a flick of metallic eyeliner. Here are the products, tips and tricks you need for a glam and gorgeous holiday!

Adding a pop of color has become second nature when it comes to clothing and accessories, but Philadelphia-based makeup artist and stylist Linda J. Marcy urges you to consider the concept for your beauty routine during the holiday season.

"A fun way to add a pop of color to your LBD this holiday season is with makeup. Pick your best feature and go BOLD," she says. "Choose a bright color for your lips—red is perfect for the holidays and it's classic, but you can choose a magenta or any bright to stay on trend." Marcy's suggestion to get the look starts with a clear pencil to define and prevent the color from bleeding, followed by a punchy lipstick topped with clear gloss. If a bold lip is part of your usual repertoire and you want something more impactful, try a metallic finish, like Hourglass Extreme Sheen High Shine Lip Gloss in Siren ($28).

But Marcy says you don't have to stick to lips when you think of statement color. Add dimension to your face with a pop of color on your cheeks and beyond, blending well around your temple area. Use your fingers to apply a liquid highlighter at the top of your cheekbones. Bring drama to your eyes with a navy, charcoal or green. Start by lining your eyes with black gel liner on top (pencil or shadow on bottom) then add the color with a brush to the crease and use some fake lashes to finish off the look. By far, my favorite gel eyeliner is Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner ($23) and it comes in lots of colors.
