The Fluorescent Face: Spring’s Most Understated Ways to Wear Neon Makeup

Bright, bold colors and spring are a natural pairing, and for this season, expect makeup to come in a full spectrum of rich and brilliant shades. The new neutrals are part of an eclectic rainbow of both brights and pastels. Punchy magenta, intense sky blue, hypercolored lilac, lime green and fluorescent tangerine orange are shades that are thrilling and shocking for spring, and they are becoming more familiar to the eye. Of all the beauty trends from the runway to incorporate into your spring makeup bag, neon hues may be the most intimidating, but they don’t have to be! When done right, they are not scary at all. To wit: models at Costello Tagliapietra wore painted lids in vibrant fresh green and Easter egg lilac, and still managed to look pared down. At Lela Rose and Marc by Marc Jacobs, the eyes were electrified with vivid highlighter hues in hyper pigmented blue shadow and green liner, while Jeremy Scott delivers full throttle intense opaque eyes with Big Bird yellow and sky blue crayons lining the upper and lower lids.
