Backstage at NYFW: Beach Babe Beauty at Sophie Theallet Spring 2015

The inspiration for the beauty look at Sophie Theallet was “a sexy woman at the beach,” according to makeup artist Tom Pecheux. “Sophie was in Jamaica, and that was what inspired her collection. The clothing is feminine and sexy without showing too much skin.” Pecheux used MAC’s Matchmaster Foundation ($35) and Studio Finish Concealer ($19) on models to achieve a beachy glow, and Silver Dusk ($26) to highlight the face. Eyes were all smoky with a hint of burgundy. Fluidline in a deep brown shade was applied over the lid and under the bottom lash line — afterward, a deep merlot shade of eye gloss was layered on top for a contrasting, but still smoky effect.

Hair was inspired by past Bond Girl Ursula Andress, and was kept slicked back with a piecey texture. Lead Stylist Peter Gray used a generous amount of Rene Furterer’s Volumea Volumizing Conditioning Spray ($27) from root to end and a wide-tooth comb to get the wet effect.

Nails were kept playful. Julie Kandalec for Essie created a double French tip using Turquoise & Caicos ($8.50) and Fiji ($8.50) along the tip of the nail, and then incorporated the use of negative space by leaving the rest of the nail colorless. The whole look was pretty simple to recreate and sexy, but still totally fun.
