Backstage at NYFW: Transparent Makeup and Flyaway Knots at 3.1 Phillip Lim

The 3.1 Phillip Lim collection for Spring 2015 was all about see-though transparency and airiness, and makeup artist Francelle Daly kept with the theme when it came to the makeup. Using NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer ($42), Stick Concealer ($24) and Light Reflecting Setting Powder ($35), Daly had models’ skin looking radiant and glowy.

Hair was a little bit more roughed up and edgy. “Hair was inspired by a cross between Steven Klein‘s 1990s photography and the romanticism of the Pre-Raphaelites, but with a punk edge,” explained hair stylist Paul Hanlon. Hair was prepped with TRESemmé‘s Climate Protection Mousse ($4.79/$5.99 CDN) for added volume throughout the roots and mid-lengths before being pulled back into a ponytail. The tail was then divided into two sections, tied into two to three knots depending on the length and secured with pins. Strands of hair along the hairline in the front and back were pulled out and sprayed with TRESemmé Climate Protection Finishing Spray ($4.99//$5.99 CDN) for the punk effect.
