Backstage Beauty: Holiday Hair Inspiration from Banana Republic’s Summer 2015 Presentation

Creative Director Marissa Webb debuted her highly-anticipated Summer 2015 Banana Republic collection yesterday. When it came to the hair look for the designer, who is known for her girl-meets-tomboy aesthetic, Webb paired her collection with loose, textured, downtown-girl hair.

“Since it’s a presentation, we really just wanted to keep the interest in the shape happening through the side and front and giving hair a loose ponytail in the back,” explained hair stylist Jeanie Syfu for TRESemme, “She [Marissa] loves messy texture and I’ve been doing her shows for about two seasons now. We worked on many twists for the look, but this was pretty much an idea she had from the beginning and I created my take on it.” The waves are full but still laid-back and the entire process is easier than it looks, which is a plus.

Though created for a spring show, we think this hairstyle is perfect for the holiday season. To get the look, Syfu prepped damp hair with TRESemme Thermal Creations Volumizing Mousse ($4.99) and rough-dried it with her fingers to get extra volume and texture. Syfu then used two different sized curling irons to create the loose waves and once curled, back brushed the hair to create more texture. She used 24 Hour Body Finishing Spray ($5.99) before starting the twists which were achieved by gathering hair at the hairline and splitting it into two sections. Syfu grabbed one side and began twisting hair at the crown, continuing down the nape of the neck and leaving the lengths of the hair loose. The twist was bobby pinned before she repeated this step with the remaining hair. The twists should act as a frame to the pony, which Syfu finished off by spraying Fresh Start Volumizing Dry Shampoo ($5.99).
