Everything You Need to Know About Getting Your Eyebrows Shaped by a Pro

Eyebrow shaping is extremely important and is at the top of our beauty priority list at all times. Well-groomed arches balance out facial features and frame the eyes, so it’s crucial to properly shape, fill in and trim them in order to look your best. There are many methods to maintain brows; threading, waxing or tweezing. All of these are great options, but to simplify our lives, we leave the shaping to the pros. Here’s what you should know before you book your appointment.

Evaluate Your Options

As mentioned previously, there are different methods of grooming and shaping. It’s all about personal preference, but if you have sensitive skin, then threading may be for you. This technique uses a string to remove hair — kind of like plucking except way faster — and barely has contact with the skin. If your hair is on the thicker side, then waxing is the way to go. After a few sessions, hair will grow back thinner, softer and even slower. It’s important to note, however, that waxing can easily irritate the skin and is not as precise as threading, so there is some tweezing that happens afterward.

Consider the Pricing

Visiting the pros can cost as little as $6 or as much as $75 at upscale salons. Threading is typically more affordable than waxing, and a quicker process.

Find Your “Spot”

This is just as important as finding the right hairstylist, bikini waxer and coffee joint. Finding the perfect brow spot that is nearby, wallet-friendly and has a solid staff can be tough at first, but once you find “the one,” it’s all smooth sailing. We suggest asking friends, hitting us up on Twitter or doing some good old Internet searching.

Consult with the Pro

Communication is key when it comes to talking about your desired brow shape. Make sure to be clear about what you want — the size of your arch, how full or thin you want them or if you just want a touch up. Your shaper should never start the process without talking to you first.
