Backstage Beauty: The Jason Wu Girls Let Their Hair Down for Fall

Jason Wu let models keep warm on a freezing day in New York City by letting them wear their hair down on the runway for the first time since 2008. Wu, who is a longtime Lancome collaborator, has always been a fan of experimenting with different hairstyles on the runway so the departure from this was a nice refresher. Mane master Odile Gilbert had an arsenal of Kerastase products to get the casual yet-subtly-sexy look.

On wet hair, Gilbert applied the line’s Buildable Texture Spray from roots to ends and blow dried hair with a diffuser, using her fingers to play up its texture without adding any volume to the roots. Hair was then parted tot he side and a curling iron was used to create the waves mid-shaft, but leaving the ends straight, “I used a curling iron only the middle—not on the roots or the ends,” explained Gilbert. She also added Kerastase V.I.P. Dry Volumizing and Texturizing Spray for even more texture and then raked through the waves one last time with her fingers to get the lived-in casual look. The feminine hair complemented the cozy furs seen on the runway perfectly, and we’re all for a hair style that requires no brush.
