Strobing: Everything You Need to Know About the Anti-Contouring Technique

Strobing, despite being the latest beauty craze, has actually been around forever. It’s just a new term for highlighting and accentuating your skin (minus the time-consuming effort of contouring). And the luminous results are stunning. It makes you look younger, fresher and healthier without a lot of product. “Strobing is great for minimalists and it doesn’t take as much experience as contouring. The technique is less artistry. You only need your fingers and a great highlighter,” says L’Oréal Paris celebrity makeup artist Sir John.

For a fresh, radiant look, apply highlighting product where light would naturally hit your face — your cheekbones, brow bones, the center of your forehead, down your nose and on your chin. “Start with the high point of the cheekbone, center of the nose, followed by above the Cupid’s bow. You can apply down the center of the face and even on the collarbone to usher in more light,” instructs Sir John.

And yes, please don’t limit strobing to just your face. Blending a light reflecting lotion to highlight your collarbone, shoulders and shinbones will complete your summer skin look. Now that you have the basics, here are five products to help you achieve an ethereal, head-turning glow.
