Smoky Lips Are the New Smoky Eyes for Fall

You’ve mastered the smoky eye — what now? This fall, the smoky lip is making headlines and it’s super easy to create (and involves no smudging and smearing). We first spotted this smoky lip trend at Christian Dior’s Fall 2016 runway show in Paris last spring as well as at Marni and Marc Jacobs. And it’s super hip. Think deep, dark, bold colors that create a statement on the lips.

“It all started with a lipstick called Poison,” makeup artist Peter Philips told Vogue of Dior’s latest coveted fall lipstick hue, which is best described as “violet-bordering-on-black.” His technique for Dior’s show was also super simple: line the lips, add lip color and top off with a swipe of lip gloss to create the smoky-looking lip. Also brand new to the beauty world is Lipstick Queen’s Black Lace Rabbit Lipstick. Worn solo, it creates a “smokey veil” and when applied over lipstick, it “transforms the color into a sexier, smokier version.”

From deep blue to jet black, check out these lip shades that will help you master fall’s trendiest smoky lip. It’s a quick way to update your look for fall!
