Marc Jacobs S/S 2011 Beauty Look

Jacob’s Spring 2011 collection was full of color, extravagant shapes, and luxurious fabrics – a far turn from the sleepy palette of neutrals and classic silhouettes from his fall collection.

To complement his embracement of all that is showstopping, Jacobs put together a sexy, mesmerizing make-up and hair look. The hair was big, vivacious, wavy, and decadent.

To get your hair to behave in the same way, work a thickening lotion through damp strands for extra volume.

Allow it to completely dry before curling and pinning the hair into tight locks, and then brush them out to get the desired frizzy and oversized shape.

The skin was left fresh and clean, with only a light rosy cheek tint that was nearly transparent (try NARS Blush in Orgasm). The eyebrows were bleached, and fingernails were made to match with a flesh-toned polish (try CND Nail Polish in Ivory Coast).

The washed out brows and clean skin made the forest green smokey eyes stand out even more (try Urban Decay in Mildew). The shadow covered the entire lid right below the brow bone, and lined all edges of the eye.

The lashline was outlined with a dark sparkly black shadow for added depth (try NARS Eyeshadow in Night Breed), and the lashes were topped off with dark black mascara. Lips were kept matte and berry-stained with a brownish/reddish/purplish lipstick that was dabbed on (try Laura Mercier Lip Stain in Mulberry). Think of the color of eggplant or cranberries.

The far out hues and the imaginative hair may seem like something out of a Broadway musical, but in fashion, it’s just everyday stuff.
