We’re changing things up a bit over here at the Fashion Spot. While we usually interview an expert in the hair or makeup field, today we decided to interview the founder of one of my personal all-time favorite products, Sara Happ, and her undeniably ingenious lip scrub (she was the first person to package and sell anything of this kind). With its legion of celebrity fans including Jessica Simpson, Rene Zellweger, Jennifer Garner, Tori Spelling, and Rachel Zoe, there’s no denying that Sara Happ’s lip scrub (now available in seven delicious flavors) has obtained cult status. Now, she’s launched a body scrub that is just as incredible. We can’t wait to see what she comes up with next! Sara answers our three favorite beauty related questions.
INDUSTRY BREAK: I was working for ESPN in 2005 when I broke into the beauty industry by creating my first product, The Lip Scrub, which at the time did not really exist as a beauty category. Because I wasn’t able to find a lip scrub, I made it myself, in my kitchen, in six flavors. I was so obsessed with them that I packaged them, brought them to a handful of my favorite LA boutiques, and simply asked the buyers to try my homemade scrubs with me. Each buyer wrote me an order on the spot, which I now realize is pretty rare, so I’m beyond grateful to GET to work in this industry.

Tom Ford Private Blend Lipstick in Smoke Red. I think every girl should own one perfect red lipstick, even if you’re not a “lipstick type of girl”. Just knowing this rich, blue-based lipstick is in my makeup bag makes me smile.

Rachel Zoe sunglasses, because no matter how much of a beauty junkie you are, we all have days when we just don’t feel fabulous, and her Jackie O-esque sunglasses can make any bare face look downright chic.
FAVORITE PRODUCT YOU’VE CREATED: My Body Scrub in Vanilla Bean is my favorite product. It was years in the making, and is unlike anything I have EVER felt before. We found these giant sugar crystals that are almost like caviar and suspended them in a blend of Kukui and other essential oils. The best part is, the whole sumptuous scrub rinses clean away, so there is nothing but soft, supple skin, left behind. And the whole process just feels like a rebirth to me. I always feel like a new girl after using it!
