Top Nail Trends for Spring: Pastels and Neutrals

Spring is almost here, and we’re getting excited about this season’s colorful beauty trends! You may not be able to wear your flirty new skirt or ballet flats just yet, but one way to introduce spring into your look is with nail polish. We’ve been spotting creamy pastels and natural looking colors everywhere, and we’re loving them much more than the light, opaque colors we’ve seen in the past. Check out these two trends, and let us know what you’ll be wearing this season!

Pastels

The word “pastel” turns some women off, reminding them of twin-set, golf club sweaters and overdone baby rooms. But we think it’s safe to come out and play with these colors now because they add a soft, feminine look to almost any outfit. There are some really fun, edgy pastels available this season, including creamy greens and purples, as seen on Alexa Chung (above, right).

One of our favorite pastels of the season is blue. It’s been a hot nail color over the last few months, namely dark metallics and navy blues. Nicholas K helped shift the trend to something more seasonal at his Spring 2011 collection when he splashed a bright baby blue hue created by Dashing Diva on the models to complement his new line (above, left). For a similar look, check out OPI’s “No Room for the Blues” ($8) polish from the Bright collection.

Naturals

Natural-looking nail colors are super popular and practically foolproof. They can be worn by women of any age while looking clean and classy. Nude nails are a great way to transition from one season to the next, and help draw attention to your spring wardrobe.
