Amber Heard: Beauty Look of the Week

Who: Amber Heard

Where: The 2011 ESPY Awards

Why we like it: While this look may seem pedestrian when compared to more dramatic evening looks, it is the perfect example of how a romantic beauty look can soften a harsh or dramatic fashion choice. Her windswept updo paired with a warm, flushed face and kohl lined eyes worked against the harsh lines of the dress and resulted in a more relaxed but still evening appropriate look.

How to get it at home: Women often have concerns about teasing their hair but if done correctly, and with the right products, you can limit the damage to your locks while gaining that envious height. If you’re looking for lots of volume, one of the best products on the market is Oribe’s Dry Texturizing Spray $39. It can be used as a dry shampoo and lasts for days (if you want it to). This, or any good dry shampoo, can even eliminate the need to tease if you want that high-volume lift.

While her makeup may seem subdued, the subtle hints of brown in her smoky eye add depth and a warm tan tone to her look. Try accenting your favorite kohl liner, such as Laura Mercier’s Kohl Eye Pencil $19, with a warm matte brown shadow such as Bobbi Brown’s Eye Shadow in Taupe $20 in the socket line. A bronzer with a touch of color, such as Laura Mercier’s Bronzing Duo $32, will not only bring out your natural tan but also add a subtle flush to your cheek. Finish off your look with a rosy lip gloss such as NARS’ Lip Gloss in Ophelia $24 and you’ll have a fresh summer face that works well for day or night.
