Turn a few heads without the fake blood with these specially formulated beauty products that are perfect for Halloween.

Halloween makeup is usually limited to face paint and fake gore, but for those of you who are interested in a slightly more low-key Halloween, we’ve put together a list of beauty products that you could use to enhance your everyday look for that all important party (or even for those of you celebrating at work) and turn a few heads without the blood. From glow in the dark nail polish to dark green lip gloss, beauty brands have come out in full force this year with a number of limited edition and specially formulated products. Here are some of our favorites:

  • Laser-cut paper eyelashes

False lashes have been a staple of many Halloween costumes but if you’re looking for something special this year, opt for a pair like these paper peacock ones, $19, from Paperself. They’re classy and elegant while still being different enough to warrant attention.

  • Spooky printed nail wraps

Nail art is a great way to get into the spooky holiday spirit without wearing buckets of fake blood, or even dressing up. These ready-to-wear stickers from Sally Hansen Salon Effects, $10, are nail polish wrap that would be perfect for someone who isn’t wholly committed to dressing up but wants to get into the Halloween spirit.

  • An unexpected lip color

Black lipstick and deep reds have been Halloween beauty staples for years but this season’s collection from Illamasqua provides a number of worthy replacements such as this sheer lip gloss in Violate, $23.36, a dark shimmering green, which funnily enough is not special edition but actually part of their Theater of the Nameless collection.

  • Glow in the dark nails

China Glaze’s new Halloween polishes are all pretty spectacular but special mention has to go to Ghoulish Glow, which is a glow in the dark top coat you can add to your favorite polish.  Be sure to let it soak up some light before you head out for the night. This color comes in a set for $10 with a black crackle, a gritty '3-D' green glitter, and a blood red tone.

  • Black light powder

Make Up For Ever’s background is in body painting so it’s no surprise that between making the perfect cream blush and rainbow-bright eyeliners they came up with Fluo Night, $31, which is a black light pigment that is only visible under UV light. You can apply it wherever you want, it looks transparent to the naked eye or pat it on your lips or eyes for a dramatic reveal. Carefully blend it with your lipstick or pat it on top of your eyeshadow for a defined glowing look but be sure to wash your brushes after you use it though (unless you like the glowing look).
