Olivia Wilde

Who: Olivia Wilde

Where: LACMA's Art And Film Gala

Why we like it: We've become used to Wilde's exciting fashion and beauty choices on the red carpet this year but this eye-catching smoky eye's multifaceted colors pairs wonderfully with her bold red dress, clean face, and swept back hair.

How to get it at home: When you're applying a very heavy eye such as this, it's a good idea to do it first and work on your base second so that you can dust off any fallout if neccessary. If you have a very dewy foundation, you can apply it ahead of time but be prepared to do a bit of clean-up.

Prepare your skin with a primer and apply Urban Decay's Eyeshadow Primer Potion $19 all across the lid to be sure that the shadows stay in place. To get this look, try using Urban Decay's Mariposa Palette $39 which includes all of the colors you'll need. Start with the Gunmetal grey and apply it in the shape of your wing. You don't need to worry about being too precise at this point because you'll be blending it all later. Take the same shadow and run it along the lower lash line and blend it outwards so that it connects with the bottom of your wing. Next, take a very small amount of the dark teal color, Haight, and blend it on top of the grey to get a very subtle blue tone. With a blending brush, apply a small amount Wreckage, the dark shimmering taupe, and blend it into the brow bone across the top of the wing. Make sure that the black/blue blends evenly across the eye. For extra definition you could add a black gel liner such as Bobbi Brown's Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner $21 across the upper last line but a kohl liner on the waterline should suffice. Finish off your eyes with a coat of your favorite mascara.

Now that you have your eyes done, you can apply your foundation and whilst doing so, define the shape of your eye and clean up any powder that may have fallen below. Apply any concealer if necessary. Take a small amount of brow powder such as Smashbox's Brow Tech $24 and apply it softly through the brow. You don't want too much definition in the brow or else you will look too made up but fill in any holes and add a bit of color. Use a coral cream blush such as Josie Maran's Cream Blush in Sunset $22 and blend it well into the apples of the cheeks. If you think you've applied too much, just take your foundation brush that you used before and buff any excess into the skin. Finish off your face with a swipe of Make Up For Ever's HD Microfinish Powder $30 to control any shine and set the base. Lastly, apply a beige lipstick such as Dior Addict Lipstick in Beige Casual $28.
