Makeup for Girls Who Wear Glasses

Women who wear glasses have it made in the accessories department but often have trouble with applying makeup. Whether you’ve got thick retro plastic or wire thin frames it doesn’t mean you can’t have fun with makeup.

When looking for a base, opt for powder or mineral foundations because cream and liquid formulas will move under the pressure on your nose. This way you can limit unsightly redness and indentations. Glasses can cast a shadow under the eyes so look for non-creasing under eye concealer with light reflecting particles.

The first hurdle for girls with glasses is your eyesight. If you can’t see without your glasses, applying something like mascara could be disastrous. Try to find a travel-sized mirror that you can hold at a helpful distance. If you still can’t see, and are worried about ending up with clown makeup, opt for shadow pencils or cream shadow. With the help of your fingers and a blending brush, you should be able to apply the color to your lid and blend it into the crease without even looking. This is an easy way to add some color without having to worry about multiple products.

Glasses draw attention to your eyes so it’s important to groom and define your brows. If you’re not used to filling in your brows, a brown or taupe eye shadow applied through the middle of the brow can be a great starting point and easier to master than pencils or pens. A clear brow gel will set and maintain the shape of your brows all day.

While a bit of bold color works for a night out, stick with neutral shades for day. There’s no need to draw extra attention to the area. Sweep a shimmering bone or taupe shadow along the lid and define the crease with a darker taupe or brown and blend it well into the socket line. Eyeliner is a glasses-girl’s best friend as you can define and accentuate your eyes with little trouble. Make your eyes look brighter and more open with a nude or light colored liner on the lower waterline and line the top with a gel liner. Then curl your lashes and apply mascara. Curling your lashes can help prevent smudges on your lenses, especially if you have long lashes. 

Put your glasses back on and finish your look as usual. Women who wear glasses, especially bold frames, look great with a bold lip. So don’t be afraid of color.
