Who: Angelina Jolie Where: The Screen Actors Guild Awards Why we like it: Angelina has a pretty standard makeup look, but this slight departure from her usual kitten flick was a fantastic accent to her dramatic dress. Where a hard line would have looked too contrived, this soft smoky eye is just as dramatic, but a little bit softer. How to get it at home: Start by prepping your skin with a primer or moisturizer. Next, with a buffing or stippling brush, apply Illamasqua's Rich Liquid Foundation $34, blending well into the skin. With a small angled brush, use Anastasia's Brow Powder Duo $22 for a full, natural looking brow that will frame the face but not give the hard lines of pencil or wax. Start your eyes by covering the entire lid with MAC's Eyeshadow in Patina $15, this warm taupe has a bit of a pearl so it will add drama as well as provide a good base. With a small shadow brush, apply Laura Mercier's Eye Color in Pewter $22 to the inner and outer corners of the eye, connecting the two with a thin line. Apply a black kohl liner to the upper waterline and finish your eyes with mascara. This look is perfect for bold false eyelashes but if you're looking for a more wearable version, opt for Benefit's They're Real! Mascara $22, which will give you a false lash effect without the hassle. If you want, you can lightly contour and highlight your face, but use a very light hand as you don't want to overdo it.
