Get Kate Beckinsale’s Sultry Smoky Eye

Where: The London premiere of Total Recall

Why we like it: Kate has a tendancy to play it safe on the red carpet, and this is no different, but if you look closely there’s more than meets the eye. The golden base works perfectly with the bronze liner on the waterline and it’s a nice alternative to a heavier black smoky eye.

How to get it at home: The only problem with this look is that her base looks a bit heavy. Given the humidity in London over the past week, we can’t blame her, but it would be best with a more satin finish. Try Urban Decay’s New Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup, $38, which will give you a lighter base with a demi-matte finish which limits the need for finishing powder. Apply a powder blush, such as Bobbi Brown’s Blush in Tawny, $25. This dusty rose tone gives a flush without adding too much extra color.

Get Kate’s golden smoky eye with the bareMinerals Ready Eyeshadow 4.0 in The Soundtrack, $30. Take the burnished gold color all over the lid and use the buttercream shadow on the brow bone for a subtle highlight. Using an angled liner brush, apply the shimmering gunmetal shadow along the lash line, flicking it out slightly. Apply a bronze toned liner, such as Smashbox’s Waterproof Shadow Liner in Luminous Fig, $22, on the lower waterline. This will give you definition without the harshness of black. Finish off your eyes with a coat of volumizing mascara, such as Lorac’s New Pro Mascara, $23.

The final element is a soft pink lip. For a less polished lipstick look, try Stila’s Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Bellissima, $22, which appplies like a gloss but delivers a lot more pigment.
