Natalia Vodianova Stars in Stella McCartney’s Fall 2011 Ad Campaign (Forum Buzz)

Stella McCartney’s ads always have a little bit of a creative twist and this season is no different. Featuring Natalia Vodianova photographed by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggot, the Fall 2011 campaign was shot in the topiary garden of a private home in Oxfordshire and will debut in the September issues of magazines such as British and American Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Interview.

Sometimes the gambles Stella McCartney takes with her campaigns can have a polarizing effect, but forum members seem to love what they’re seeing. Natalia is featured in black and white against a grey background with the intense greens of the manicured topiaries behind her. “Natalia is so stunning and sexy without even trying,” Ives927 wrote. “I love the juxtaposition of the black and white shot with the green garden.”

“What a striking campaign,” AgrenateD posted. “Who would’ve thought black and whiting your model against some asymmetrical bushes could look so good?”

BerlinRocks “really [liked] the art direction.” He described it as “easy, efficient, [traditional], and [modern].”

Northern Star was blown away by the first shot in the campaign, calling it “totally amazing. M&M toning it way down here and to fantastic effect. [I] love the black and white against the color backdrop… thankfully only one color.” But he was not so convinced by the rest. “Now I’m confused as the following two [images] just don’t work as well and I cannot for the life of me understand why,” he shared.

The first shot definitely seems to be the most effective of the three and will likely continue to be the standout shot of the campaign unless Stella has a surprise hidden up her sleeve and reveals something more.
