Vogue Brazil continues to put itself on the map with popular cover subjects like Kim Kardashian, Gigi Hadid and Naomi Campbell. For its latest offering, the title has secured yet another high-profile cover star. Already on the cover of Marie Claire, Selena Gomez poses alongside designer Nicolas Ghesquière for June 2016, both making for an unexpected choice. Shot by Bruce Weber, Selena wears Louis Vuitton (natch) on two different covers, both of which are currently being deliberated on by our forum members.
“It’s just weird to see Selena wearing clothes by Ghesquière. Such an odd mix. It doesn’t get any more prefabricated than this ‘muse/creator’ relationship..” ranted Creative the second the covers came to light.
“It’s so weird to me to see these two together. Selena looks cute and all but Nicolas steals the show. The man is goooooorgeous!” added pivoslyakova. (more…)
It’s officially official: This year, when you’re queued up in a mile-long line outside H&M or anxiously updating your cart silently praying the retailer’s site doesn’t crash, it will be for the love of Kenzo. The Swedish megastore’s collaboration with the Parisian fashion house is slated to hit the web — along with over 250 locations worldwide — November 3.
Kenzo creative directors Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, who founded Opening Ceremony back in 2002 before joining the French label in 2011, teamed up with H&M’s designers to create the line. The collection will include womenswear, menswear and accessories in Kenzo’s signature bold colors and — need we even say it? — vivid prints. Think vibrant, think young, think Solange Knowles at any red carpet event. (more…)

America’s Next Top Model, step aside. A new Oxygen series executive produced by Whoopi Goldberg will follow transgender models “breaking down barriers” in the fashion industry. Strut will center on Slay Model Management (best name ever), the first agency to exclusively represent transgender talent. Their mantra? “The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but building the new.”
“Strut follows a group of inspiring and resilient trailblazers who are working to change the modeling industry, and the world around them, by simply being true to themselves. These individuals will empower viewers as they live their lives fully and unapologetically, despite facing many obstacles throughout their journey,” explains Oxygen’s EVP of original programming and development, Rod Aissa. A quick glance at Slay’s roster and you can see these individuals have the looks and skill to do it. That said, they certainly have their work cut out for them. Spring 2016 fashion ads only featured one trans model, Lana Wachowski — and she’s not even working in the industry. (more…)
By now we’re well aware of the fact that Rihanna is affiliated with Christian Dior. She covered DIOR magazine back in 2015 and starred in the fashion house’s Secret Garden campaign, which ultimately received rave reviews across the board. Now to solidify her relationship with Dior, Rihanna has exclusively collaborated on a range of eyewear for the brand. Working alongside Dior’s design team, she came up with a striking design that has been made in a variety of colors with the range including a snazzy deluxe 24-karat gold-plated pair, generating an eye-watering price tag of $1,950! The Star Trek-inspired sunglasses can be viewed on the woman herself below, pictured in the “in house editorial images” shot by Jean-Baptiste Mondino.
But Rihanna and Dior’s latest venture left our forums with mixed feelings. “No please!! How dare they get her to design a range for the brand? This isn’t River Island, it’s Dior. Their prestige just went down the drain. Beyond sick of Rihanna and her fashion following. She simply doesn’t know when enough is enough. People keep comparing her to Grace Jones, but Jones would simply never flog her image and creativity to every Tom, Dick and Harry,” slammed an unforgiving Benn98.
“I love Rihanna but this is kind of awful… just stick to singing my love… and Dior, seriously? Why are they playing so cheap?” asked a horrified KissMiss shortly after. (more…)
If Aerie’s sky-high sales have taught us anything, it’s that we love a body-positive brand. Combine that with an awesome user experience and there’s no telling how far you’ll go.
Enter Fovo, a recently launched e-commerce marketplace that presents “a customized feed of products, content and expert advice for your unique shape and tastes.” The site’s founder, Kiana Anvaripour of luxury shapewear brand dMondaine, along with Zappos’ creator and Fovo investor Nick Swinmurn, may be seriously on to something. Our forums have been avid supporters of designer Stuart Vevers at Coach, ever since he took the helm back in 2014. We have admired the majority of his campaigns, all photographed by Steven Meisel, and Pre-Fall 2016 continues the winning streak. Models Lexi Boling, Imaan Hammam and Rianne van Rompaey steal the show this time around, captured in the back of a vintage car with a luxurious leather interior, working Vevers’ latest collection.
Forum members voiced their praise at once. “Wow, I actually like these! Very laid-back, and Coach was clever to stick with this type of photography. It’s almost synonymous with the brand right now,” credited a more than content Benn98.
“I like that they moved inside of a car, a little something different. Rianne looks gorgeous,” noted kokobombon. (more…)
