Ashley Graham Wants You to Suit Up and Join the #MySwimBody Movement

If you want people to see the truth, it’s best to bare it all. Following in the footsteps of campaigns like American Eagle’s #AerieREAL (this time around, the brand is donating $1 to The National Eating Disorders Association for every tagged, unretouched swim photo shared on social media) and StyleLikeU’s What’s Underneath video project (where influencers strip down as they open up about their struggles for self-acceptance), plus-sized swimwear company Swimsuits For All has devised its own revelatory body positive challenge. Nothing but Love for This Julia Roberts Cover of InStyle for June 2016 (Forum Buzz)

Our forums have really been embracing InStyle over recent months. In February, the once-tiresome title bestowed upon us a fabulous new look, complete with an entire overhaul inside and covers that now ooze sophistication and effortless glamour. Continuing its wave of success for June 2016, the American title has knocked it out of the park with a stunning new cover. Shunning the usual suspects, InStyle serves up Julia Roberts as its latest cover conquest, making for a refreshing choice as the actress photographs beautifully in the image lensed by Michelangelo di Battista.

The Unstoppable #Navy Crashed the Rihanna x Manolo Blahnik Site

The footwear tycoons over at Manolo Blanik are cooling their stiletto heels, basking in glow of the Rihanna effect while their tech team clocks overtime hours. The limited-edition denim footwear collaboration between the king of footwear and the queen of pop launched earlier this week, and the brand’s dedicated microsite has repeatedly collapsed in the Bahamian heat.

Manolo Blanik, ever the gentleman, won’t release sales figures or traffic numbers, but Kristina Blahnik did confirm sales of the just #denimdesserts collection have been “steady and constant” across the globe, “which is what we expected of a luxury, high-value product and the more considered purchaser. In fact, when we went live on our microsite, it crashed a few times. It was all up and running again, but the volume of traffic was so high that it has taken us a little bit aback.” (more…)

Vogue Germany Ruins a Gorgeous Rianne van Rompaey Cover With Too Much Text (Forum Buzz)

Our forums often lament that Vogue Germany tends to throw a mountain of cover lines over its cover images, but this month’s offering takes the cake. After featuring the likes of Gigi Hadid, Edie Campbell and Anna Ewers in recent months, the title is sticking with girls-of-the-moment with current face of Louis Vuitton Rianne van Rompaey for June 2016. Shot by Daniel Jackson, the red-haired beauty from the Netherlands gives a fabulous close-up, allowing her natural beauty to do the captivating. But German Vogue just HAD to ruin it with all that text!

“I love the image but I wish the font was of a different color, too much orange going on…” kokobombon critiqued shortly after. (more…)

Madonna’s Revealing Met Gala Outfit Was a Statement Against Ageism and Sexism

The Met Gala doesn’t exactly scream “forum for social change.” Celebrities walk the grand entrance stairs in gowns that could fund dozens of college educations and snap selfies with hands manicured to the tune of $2,000. Last year’s ball, entitled “China: Through the Looking Glass,” even led to some embarrassingly politically incorrect costumes when certain attendees — and the designers behind their look — bungled their Asian references (Lady Gaga, Georgia May Jagger, we’re looking at you).

However, when Madonna gets outfitted in yards of costly couture, she does it for a good cause — and we don’t mean the upkeep of the Met’s Costume Institute. Although this year’s breast and derrière-baring lace number triggered a slew of criticism, the inimitable pop star made it clear her reckless (we’re using the Beyoncé intonation here) Givenchy dress was “a political statement as well as a fashion statement” intended for one of the most-watched red carpets of the year. Lily-Rose Depp Stars on an ‘Awkward’ and ‘Boring’ Cover of Vanity Fair France (Forum Buzz)

You’d think with the jaw-dropping covers Vanessa Paradis has provided us in the past, daughter Lily-Rose Melody Depp would be doing just fine in the photogenic department. In January, LOVE  magazine did a number on the Chanel ambassador with a cover shot of Lily-Rose wearing a face full of garish makeup and now Vanity Fair France serves up a fairly generic and lifeless cover for May 2016. Photographed by Scott Trindle, the 16-year-old looks pretty uncomfortable in the portrait cover image and our eagle-eyed forum members picked up on the awkwardness immediately.

“What an ugly cover. One of the worst of her,” pointed out narcyza straight away, about to set the tone for comments to come.

“Prime example of someone who can take good pictures of themselves but fails when it comes to pictures being taken of them by other people. See also: Kendall [Jenner],” laughed Elite13. (more…)
