White sneaks have had their time but we’re ready to call it. Sure, we love a good tennis silhouette, but we also value our individuality. The moment Céline designer Phoebe Philo took a bow in her white Adidas Stan Smiths, we, along with the rest of the world it seems, fell in love. Five years and an ungodly number of Stan Smiths later (Adidas has reportedly sold 40 million pairs of the shoe since they first hit the market in 1963 but won’t reveal how many of those sales happened post-2014 Philo-inspired relaunch), our souls and soles are weary.
Yet again, Adidas is here to rescue us from our sartorial slump, this time with the help of another fashion frontrunner — the one and only Kate Moss. Miraculously resurrected from her Absolutely Fabulous death, the British supermodel is the face of Adidas’ newly reissued Gazelles. When you’ve been in the game as long as Moss has, you don’t even need to sit and snap a photo to star in a campaign. All it takes is signing off on the use of an archive image of your trailblazing self lounging in said classic kicks, a little help from digital artist slash provocateur Doug Abraham (aka @bessnyc4) and you’re good to go. We’ve become so accustomed to seeing actresses and musicians on the covers of mainstream fashion titles every month that it was a breath of fresh air to see a handful of models on the latest issue of British ELLE. Because, let’s face it, UK ELLE had a lot to make up for after last month’s Bella Hadid reprint. After asking its social media followers to select their favorite shot (which was to ultimately end up as the August 2016 cover), the people have spoken and opted for the one below, featuring beauties Ysaunny Brito, Bhumika Arora, Sofie Hemmet and Maggi Jablonski. Captured by Kai Z Feng, the girls each hold their own while wearing Prada.
But the cover had our forum members divided in their opinions. “That wouldn’t win any awards for ‘best use of a brick wall on a fashion magazine cover’. Was there not some – any sort – of better background material than that?” asked an underwhelmed tigerrogue straight away.
“If anything it looks very generic. That brick wall background is beyond amateur hour. And the cast is quite bland. It could have worked if they booked better models,” added GivenchyHomme. (more…)
In this instance, the girls (metaphorically) standing before her, Kendall Jenner and Stephanie Seymour, represent two modeling factions: today’s leading ladies (Kendall) and those who dominated the 90s (Seymour). However, Tyra (symbolically) holds not just one picture in her hand, but two. The America’s Next Top Model creator is here to end the generational war once and for all, via blog post. In a first for ELLE Australia, the fashion magazine has revealed that its July issue will feature a lift-and-flip cover starring Aussie supermodel Gemma Ward.
The edition is set to be titled ‘The Many Faces Of Gemma Ward,’ and will feature five of Ward’s different looks, enabling readers to flip to create up to 35 different combination looks, care of the page and her face being split into thirds.
“Since launching almost three years ago, ELLE Australia has always sought to innovate,” said editor-in-chief Justine Cullen of the innovative new cover. “Traditionally, a magazine’s cover has been sacred ground, but I loved the idea of pushing the boundaries to get our audience to engage with the cover beyond the cover lines.”
The most highly anticipated campaign of the season is finally here. After a spectacular Pre-Fall campaign, we were expecting great things from Prada for Fall 2016. Lensed by the legendary Steven Meisel, models Vanessa Axente, Caitie Greene and Kiki Willems take the spotlight this season, each photographed with the same wet hairstyle and not doing much else. Meisel’s cut and paste job did not go down well on our forums.
It was fair to declare the campaign a flop within seconds. “God, I hate that greasy wet hairstyle so much,” cried out Scotty straight away.

In the biggest Lip Kit news to rock the Internet since, oh, last week (her Smurf- Americana-inspired matte blues go on sale today), Kylie Jenner just announced (via Snapchat, as with all else) that her eponymous cosmetics brand is about to get its own brick-and-mortar location. Unless the reality star hopped on a plane and somehow resisted the urge to document herself while doing so, her beauty empire’s flagship location looks to be California.
