Lady Gaga has once again proved her salt in the music industry during tonight’s 2016 Super Bowl, with the performance a far cry from her “Pokerface” and “Telephone” days. Much like her spine-tingling rendition of John Lennon’s “Imagine“, we’re totally down with Gaga 2.0.
Her new-and-improved ballad performances aren’t the only upgrade happening on the Gaga front either, with the Grammy-winning artist and recent Academy Award winner belting out “The Star-Spangled Banner” in a look much less meaty than her iconic VMAs ensemble circa-2010.
The empowering songstress followed in the footsteps of industry greats like Whitney Houston, Cher, Neil Diamond, Beyoncé and more by landing the gig, wearing a shiny red pantsuit and sporting a do’ fit for a confrontation with Jareth the Goblin King.
With Gaga’s upcoming David Bowie tribute at the 2016 Grammys on the horizon, plus her previous lightning bolt face art for “Just Dance” and “Applause”, we wouldn’t be surprised if she took some inspo from the late musician’s famed fashion influence.
Watch Gaga show off her performance perfection in the video below.
