Kaia Gerber (Unsurprisingly) Becomes a Saint Laurent Campaign Girl for Fall 2018

Kaia Gerber’s modeling portfolio doesn’t rival mom Cindy Crawford’s just yet but the 16-year-old is undeniably putting the effort in as she continues to be embraced by the industry. Should we at all be surprised to see Kaia now score a Saint Laurent campaign? After all, she has walked the past two shows and wore one of Anthony Vaccarello’s designs when she landed the cover of Vogue Paris back in February. Kaia’s relationship with the iconic French fashion house is now solidified as Vaccarello makes the Los Angeles native the face of the Fall 2018 collection, photographed by David Sims.

The campaign generated a whole host of mixed feedback from our forum members. “The industry seems hell bent on making this nepotism model a star! Sure, with some of her work she delivers, but for the most part, she looks criminally juvenile. Vaccarello’s campaigns never do his collections any favors. I’m not a fan of the B&W direction. Thought we’d leave that sort of thing behind when Hedi [Slimane] left,” commented Benn98.

“Lol, what sellouts. So juvenile,” laughed HeatherAnne. (more…)

Lara Stone Is a Summer Dream on Her First Vogue Spain Cover for May 2018

You’d better hurry to your local newsstand to grab your copy of Vogue Spain’s monumental anniversary issue as it’s about to be replaced with the magazine’s next installment. The upcoming May 2018 issue marks the Spanish fashion bible’s first cover shoot with Lara Stone, who has fronted just about every other edition of Vogue throughout her career. Her gorgeous cover, photographed by Bjorn Iooss and styled by Juan Cebrian, was well worth the wait. Wearing a jacquard Prada top, Lara was shot on location in Costa Rica evoking summer goals with effortless ease.

Our forum members were quick to show Lara’s latest some love. “Absolutely stunning cover. Lara can do no wrong in my eyes,” Style Savvy stated upon checking out the cover.

“So happy to see this cover. Lara looks great here. From the pose, not directly towards the camera, to the flowing hair, the makeup, and the colors overall. Everything works. Congrats Lara for your first Vogue Spain cover!” Valentine27 enthused.

“A summer dream, I love everything about it!” shared Srdjan. (more…)

Karlie Kloss Is Estée Lauder’s Newest Global Brand Ambassador

If you haven’t heard already: Karlie Kloss is the newest global brand ambassador for Estée Lauder. The signing is well-deserved due to the impressive body of work the American beauty has amassed since she first broke onto the scene back in 2006. Karlie has walked for the likes of Jean Paul Gaultier, Michael Kors and Christian Dior and become the face of just about every major fashion house (Diane von Furstenberg, Versace and Marc Jacobs, to name a select few). Karlie has also accumulated a staggering thirty-nine Vogue covers throughout her career. Not to mention, the 25-year-old’s entrepreneurship, charitable efforts and being an all-around positive role model for young women around the world.

Joining the likes of Carolyn Murphy, Joan Smalls and Liu Wen as brand ambassadors, Karlie’s debut campaign for Estée Lauder is set to roll out across social media, print and digital publications, as well as Estée Lauder counters in July 2018. In the announcement image (below), Karlie already proves her worth in the shot, wearing the brand’s Lipstick Envy in Insolent Plum.

Immediately after Estée Lauder teased its newest ambassador, it didn’t take long for our forum members to figure out Karlie’s new gig. “What mess is this? They didn’t even let the body get cold before snatching it from L’Oréal? Really Estée Lauder?” asked ThatDudeOverTher.

“I didn’t realize her L’Oréal contract ended. That’s a pretty swift turnaround!” chimed in happycanadian. (more…)

Gigi Hadid Is So Over It on Vogue Japan’s June 2018 Cover

We called it: Gigi Hadid is back on the cover of Vogue Japan for the third time, just one month after sister Bella’s appearance on the Japanese fashion bible, making a total of five Vogue Japan covers between them. For June 2018, Gigi is once again captured by photographic duo Luigi & Iango and styled by Julia von Boehm throughout the accompanying black and white cover story. Fresh from the cover of Harper’s Bazaar, Gigi gives us subtle femme fatale vibes with slicked-back hair, a bold red lip and a black leather Céline coat worn off the shoulder.

According to our forum members, the third time is not a charm. “What a weak cover. I love Gigi, but this is so bad. Plus, how many times have we seen this already?” questioned guimon the moment the cover struck.

“The cover looks more like Vogue Germany, and what happened to her face?” MDNA asked.

“If ever ‘Gigi fatigue’ needed a representative image, here you have it! What’s with her expression? This is very unlikely for Luigi & Iango. And two Hadids back to back? There must be other models to cover!” Benn98 ranted. (more…)

Our Forums Wonder Who Approved This Dreadful Cover Image of Sasha Pivovarova for Vogue Turkey?

Vogue Turkey, which doesn’t usually receive all that much attention on our forums, has been on our radar lately — but for all the wrong reasons. The magazine has managed to do a disservice to a whole host of models including Hailey Baldwin, Emily DiDonato, Natasha Poly and now fails to do Sasha Pivovarova justice for April 2018. The current face of Christian Dior and a forum favorite since she first broke onto the scene over a decade ago was shot by Liz Collins against a pale yellow backdrop, flashing her signature vacant stare while wearing Prada.

Once again, members of our forums weren’t singing Vogue Turkey’s praises. “I’m used to seeing Sasha always delivering, but she looks lost here… I don’t blame her though, this styling and layout is not helping at all,” commented Legolas immediately.

“The cropping is so weird and makes her head look huge. They did her dirty,” added dodencebt. (more…)

tFS Forum Members Call for Regime Change at Allure After the Release of the May 2018 Sasha Lane Cover

It’s common knowledge that the magazine industry is going through tough times. Despite Allure‘s attempts to switch things up by scaling back the frequency of its print issues and dedicating issues to certain themes, our forum members are finding it hard to engage with the magazine’s new look and feel. Allure seems to have forgotten about a little thing called glamour and after a raw and unpolished Adwoa Aboah cover last month, Sasha Lane becomes the face of the ‘Disruptors Issue’ for May 2018. Photographed by Scott Trindle, the actress delivers a perfectly satisfactory portrait cover image.

Once again, our forum members are not in a rush to snag a copy. “OK, I’m done with Allure,” proclaimed jal718 the moment the cover struck, about to set the tone for discussion to follow.

“Seriously!! How is this magazine still around? Ever since Linda [Wells] left it has been such a mess. This try-hard indie feel does not suit, at all!” Miss Dalloway added in frustration.

“Just no,” said Nocturnal. (more…)
