Alicia Vikander Wins Us Over on UK Harper’s Bazaar’s Minimal January Cover (Forum Buzz)

Our forums were pretty silent on the December issue of U.K. Harper’s Bazaar, but the publication sure has us talking about its new January edition. Kicking off 2016 with a bang, Bazaar welcomes Alicia Vikander onto its front cover, who poses before the lens of Bazaar regular Alexi Lubomirski. We took an exclusive first peek at the cover sent to subscribers (pictured below) with the British title opting for an unconventional and minimal shot of the Swedish actress that showcases her Stella McCartney dress to perfection.

Members of our forums shared mixed views toward the cover, though. “I’m so bored of her. She’s everywhere, it’s annoying me,” said Oxymore the moment the cover dropped.

“IMO she always looks so bland, I’ve only seen her in Ex Machina and her look worked there but on fashion magazines she lacks charisma and presence. This time is no different but I like the main cover because of the styling,” echoed kokobombon. (more…)

#GivingTuesday Is the New Shopping Holiday to Get Behind

Every few years, a new retail-driven holiday pops up around Thanksgiving weekend. Black Friday is now followed by Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday. #GivingTuesday is the latest holiday to add to the ever-growing list — and it’s one we can actually get behind. Launched in 2012 by Leaders from 92nd Street Y, a nonprofit center in New York City, the 24-hour campaign seeks to promote philanthropy, WWD reports. It was created in partnership with the United Nations Foundation to encourage people to volunteer, donate to charities and spread inspiration for giving using the #GivingTuesday hashtag.

Though it’s relatively new, #GivingTuesday is becoming increasingly popular. In 2012, about 1,400 charitable organizations took part in the campaign in America alone. That number increased to 35,000 last year across 65 countries. This year, over 30,000 philanthropic programs in 70 countries have already signed up to participate. (more…)

As the holiday season gets in full swing, Vogue Mexico bestows upon us a fabulously festive cover to close out 2015. In comes statuesque beauty Karlie Kloss to restore our faith in magazines this December, posing before the lens of Russell James. Styled by Sarah Gore Reeves, the current face of Versace shines bright wearing Chanel on the front cover.

Unfortunately, the cover failed to leave our forum members in a celebratory mood. “I don’t like this, so many wrong things IMO: her face, the layout, the catalogue vibe…” complained kokobombon immediately.

“Horrible cover, it’s getting worse than U.K. Vogue,” added a horrified burbuja8910. (more…)

Kylie Jenner Bares All in Raunchy Spread for ‘Interview’ Magazine as Her Sold-Out Lip Kits Hit eBay

Kylie Jenner Interview Magazine

What a time to be Kylie Jenner. The youngest sibling in the Jenner/Kardashian clan turned out to be even more enterprising than some of her sisters. She created the Lip Kit by Kylie so fans could emulate her manufactured pout and broke the Internet with it —or at least the site where the kit is being sold. “So the Internet has been broken lol,” she posted in a nod to her sister’s nude Paper Magazine cover. “But everybody stand by. There are so many people on the site right now we are having some tech issues! We are working on it.” Issues were fixed and in thirty minutes, all three shades of her lipstick and liner were completely sold out.

The kit is now selling for ten times the retail price on eBay. But don’t worry: she’s launching new colors for Christmas. “I’m so sad they sold out so fast,” she tweeted. “Don’t be upset! This isn’t exclusive. There is more to come & still a chance to buy before Christmas! Stay tuned. I love you guys.” (more…)

Man Fired After Targeting Clementine Ford With Sexually Explicit Comment

Clementine Ford

We’re not sure when some people will get it, but online bullying is never OK. Thank the skies above for women like Clementine Ford who will absolutely not stand for this behaviour, the kind which saw a Sydney man get fired from his job after commenting “slut” on the feminist writer’s Facebook page.

Well known for naming and shaming trolls online, Clementine shared a screen grab of her interaction with Michael Nolan on Friday, tagging his now-former employer, Meriton Apartments, in the post. “I wonder if the folks over at Meriton Apartments are aware that a man listing himself as a supervisor for their business likes to leave comments on women’s facebook pages calling them sluts. I wonder if they are also aware that he is a racist,” she wrote. (more…)

People Are Handing Out Fat-Shaming Cards on The London Underground

London Underground

If you thought online haters were bad, wait ’til you hear about the “organisation” which are actually, no word of a lie, handing out fat-shaming cards to people on the London Tube.

One woman named Kara Florish posted the card she received on the underground to Twitter, with the hurtful message reading things like, “You are a fat, ugly human” and “We do not understand why you fail to grasp that by eating less you will be better off, slimmer, happy and find a partner who is not a perverted chubby lover, or even find a partner at all.”

The Guardian reports that a number of people have seen passengers receiving the cards from the “organisation” which likes to call itself “Overweight Haters Ltd”. One person witnessed a young man getting on a train at Oxford Circus, handing a card to a woman and telling her “You’re fat”, before jumping off the train and leaving the woman in tears.

Another report said that a passenger saw an “ordinary-looking middle-aged man” handing out one of the cards by the organisation which “hates and resents fat people”.
