Roberto Cavalli is typically too sexy, printed, and over-the-top for the hyper-critical members of the Fashion Spot forums to get excited about, but the casting of the redheaded Karen Elson, blonde Natasha Poly, and brunette Mariacarla Boscono for Cavalli’s Fall 2011 ad campaign has got us uncharacteristically entranced. The final campaign images have yet to be released, but a preview video of the models on set with photographers Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott is enough to generate some serious buzz.
“It's pretty astonishing how you can make such an aesthetic statement by just casting a redhead, a blonde and a brunette,” Mr-Dale posted. “Hopefully it will translate well into the print version of this, ‘cause the collection was quite iffy.”
In response to the models with their long tendrils of windblown contrasting hair and dramatic makeup, Squizree wrote, “They remind me of the three witches from Macbeth, except these ones are a lot hotter,” he laughed. “But seriously there's something so unbelievably hypnotizing about this combination of women.”
Northern Star was also captivated. “After seeing the amazing video, the prospect of seeing the actual print ads is exciting me to no end,” he stated. “The model casting was always gonna be spectacular and even though the collection wasn't their best, in this atmosphere I think it's all going to work perfectly.”
This campaign is really all about the models. Small confession: I didn’t even remember what the clothes looked like after I watched it. Check out the video below to see what all the fuss is about.
