The Editor-in-Chief transition over at Vogue Paris hasn’t necessarily been an easy one as several of Emmanuelle Alt’s recent covers haven’t quite made it on our radar. But, the August cover, featuring Lara Stone in a Haider Ackermann dress photographed by Inez & Vinoodh, may have brought back that spark we’ve been missing. Forum members were thrilled to see Lara back on the cover.
“I'm surprised it's Lara and not Alt's usual favorite model, but I LOVE it so much, I'm never bored to see Lara anywhere,” wrote tarsha. Greyeyes could barely contain his excitement posting, “I thought I would never get to see another VP cover with Lara since Carine [Roitfeld's] departure from the magazine. The cover is perfect, everything works, for once I don't have a problem with the font and Lara looks fantastic. Can't wait for the main editorial.”
Several forum members think this is Alt’s best cover yet. “A.ma.zing! Beautiful shot!” MON posted. “I love the legs, love the Haider Ackermann dress, love the pose! I just love everything about it! This surpasses all the Emmanuelle Alt covers I’ve seen! If this is the new direction of Vogue Paris then bring it on!”
*ana* had a perceptive take on the cover concept: “Carine's favorite model watching a departure? Interesting. It looks like tame Helmut Newton – in a good way. I love this cover. The styling [by Alt is] pretty good, from the hair and makeup to the shoes. Nice surprise.”
So it looks like Alt may finally be hitting her stride just before the all-important September issue. The pressure is definitely on.
