It looks like Burberry is going with the “sex sells” tactic for their Burberry Body fragrance campaign featuring Rosie Huntington-Whiteley photographed by Mario Testino. Wearing (if you can call that wearing) nothing but Burberry’s classic trench and her best version of bedroom eyes, the ad as you might expect is all about Rosie’s body. There’s no perfume bottle in sight.
Squizree posted, “I absolutely loathe the direction Burberry has taken the past five years. It's no longer about the attitude and mystery that the trench coat evokes. The Burberry coat for me is the ultimate symbol of maturity. This is just sleazy. It's not sexy. It's sad they have to resort to these shenanigans to sell. Rosie doesn't look sexy here, she looks like a victim. The whole point of the trench coat is its mystery. Sexy could have been done more tastefully than simply putting a hot chick in a ripped open coat… yeesh.”
I kind of have to agree with Squizree. The golden tones may be pretty, but the attempt at sexiness is so overt and tasteless that it fails to impress. Looking at this doesn’t make me want to buy the perfume, it makes me want to pull Rosie’s trench closed.
