Proenza Schouler Switches Gears for Fall 2011 (Forum Buzz)

For their Spring 2011 ads, Proenza Schouler showcased their collection against a stark white background on models whose skin and hair appeared to be nearly translucent. This season, for their Fall 2011 ad campaign, Proenza Schouler is taking things in a completely different direction. Photographed once again by Willy Vanderperre, the ads feature model Zuzanna Bijoch (who also appears in the latest Chloé ads) against a background saturated with color.

“Love the colors,” wrote Marc10. “Nice change from last season’s clean minimalist [look]. And you can’t go wrong with Zuzanna.”

HeatherAnne had a different take: “I definitely preferred the clean and crisp Spring campaign over the bold color and design scheme they have going on for Fall – there’s a lot going on here and it distracts a bit from the clothes themselves. I do like the concept of having such contrasting campaigns, but I think it could have been executed better,” she posted.

Ives927 also had mixed feelings. “Yup, still not a fan of Zuzanna, not if she continues to be stiff and emotionless,” he shared. “However, I love the composition of the campaign.” Mikel also commended the campaign for its “great art direction.”

The ads are definitely loud, but I think they work well with the geometric patterns that were featured so heavily in Proenza Schouler’s Fall 2011 collection. Or maybe it’s just the Lego lover in me that’s drawn to these. Either way, the ads are eye-catching.
