I-D Hits the Newsstand with Six Covers for Pre-Fall (Forum Buzz)

I-D’s Pre-Fall 2011 “Pick Me Up Issue” has hit newsstands with six covers featuring Lindsey Wixson photographed by Terry Richardson, Gisele Bundchen photographed by Emma Summerton, Elvis’ granddaughter Riley Keough photographed by Matt Jones, Natasha Poly photographed by Willy Vanderperre, Raquel Zimmermann photographed by Josh Olins, and Kreayshawn photographed by George Harvey.

Most of us in the forums couldn’t get behind the Lindsey Wixson cover. Besides not really understanding her appeal as a model, the whole ice cream-in-the-eye-socket thing just wasn’t working. Bank went so far as to call the cover “nightmare fuel.”

Tigerrouge is actually a fan of Lindsey’s but she didn’t like the cover. “This is the sort of cover that makes people believe fashion magazines are made – and bought – by idiots,” she wrote.

Gisele’s cover was a breath of fresh air after the “in your face” quality of Lindsey’s cover. YoninahAliza wrote, “Gisele looks so natural and beautiful on this cover. She’s one of those people who don’t need little gimmicks to make a cover work. It’s a refreshing thing to see.”  Even so, Gisele’s cover was met with a “seen it all before” attitude by some forum members.

Riley Keough’s cover seems to be the front runner in terms of popularity among forum members, with several of them singling it out as their favorite. “I love Riley’s cover!! The golden eye shadow goes great with the top she has on, and the lip is awesome!!” lilsurprises posted.

TREVOFASHIONISTO wrote, “Riley looks perfect. I love the angle and the red lip. Such a perfectly sexy cover.”

Natasha Poly’s cover was also a contender for the role of forum favorite. “Natasha’s cover is my favorite by far,” posted 82ndfrag. “Loving the contrast and pops of color, plus it’s Natasha on the cover, what’s not to love?” he added.

Raquel’s cover landed in the forums with a thud and is definitely not representative of her best work. “Reminds me of Mary Poppins,” honeycombchild commented. I’m guessing that’s not the effect they were going for. Blueorchid “was expecting a lot better.”

Kreayshawn’s cover came as a bit of a surprise. “How the f*** did Miss ‘Gucci Gucci’ get a cover? I can’t…” posted LabelWhore4. Maybe they ran out of people to feature after they cast the other five covers?
