If anyone’s looking for lessons in how to create a great summer cover, just take a look at Vogue Australia’s November 2011 issue featuring model Alina Baikova photographed by Nicole Bentley. This cover leaves me feeling unabashedly jealous that it’s going to be summer in Australia because it conveys such a fresh, fun, chic version of the season that I can’t help but want to experience. A lot of other Fashion Spot forum members also liked the look of and feel of the cover.

. Her two covers thus far are some of the best that the publication has produced.”

Some forum members took issue with the model’s spread legs, but I like how they echo the position of her arms and form diagonal lines against the horizontal stripes of the beach blanket. Plus, the spread legs have a kind of carefree vibe to them that I associate with summer. All in all, this cover represents a job well done by Vogue Australia.
