Gucci has chosen James Franco to be the face (and body) of their new men’s made-to-measure service. Gucci’s creative director, Frida Giannini described the casting choice: “James has an innate ability to fuse classic elegance with contemporary style and interpret formal wear in an individual way,” she said. Giannini may be convinced that this Hollywood heartthrob with an odd streak is the right man for the job, but forum members aren’t convinced.
Street_a_Licious posted, “I used to like him, but I don't buy him as a potential Gucci customer, even less for their Made to Measure line.”
Justaguy described James as “another actor who’s a good actor, but not a good model.”
ParisFashionMuse was also unimpressed. “Gucci is sexy. This guy does not embody Gucci's image at all, poor execution,” she wrote.
Are forum members being overly cynical and is James Franco really the embodiment of all things Gucci? Isn’t his appeal that he’s kind of rough around the edges and lacks a certain level of polish? Or am I just missing it? I personally don't mind the way he looks in these suits though. Not gonna lie.
