If you're rich and live in New York, a copy of the new style and lifestyle publication, Scene, might soon turn up on your doorstep. The monthly closed-circulation magazine is putting the final touches on its debut issue and even though the cover, featuring an open-mouthed, over-rouged, big-haired Elettra Wiedemann, leaves a lot to be desired, there's a good reason to look forward to Scene's premiere: the first issue will include a longform investigative piece about John Galliano after his fall from Dior last year, which follows the designer to the South of France. Are you not just dying to read that?
Only 5,000 of the magazine's 50,000 copies will be available for sale on newsstands and I haven't been able to track down a website, but if the piece is any good at all, we can expect to see full-page scans up in the TFS forums ASAP.
New York Observer publisher Jared Kushner holds a majority stake in Scene. The glossy is currently operating out of the Observer offices with Julie Dannenberg acting as CEO/publisher, and Peter Davis as Editor-in-Chief.
