Carine Roitfeld is the Guest Editor for VMan’s Spring Fashion issue and though she was always a big proponent of using models rather than celebrities while leading the charge at French Vogue, she almost exclusively (other than a pinup calendar editorial shot by Willy Vandeperre) used “real people” like celebrities, chefs, mechanics, architects, and a fireman.
Nick Knight photographed French actor Tahar Rahim for the cover image. Bertrando3 commended the “really fantastic styling” but thought the pose could have been improved upon. The issue also features young Hollywood types like Taylor Lautner, Alexander Ludwig of The Hunger Games, and Chord Overstreet of Glee.
It seems like things work out pretty well using “real people” instead of models when the real people you choose could actually pass for models. Below is a little preview of what you’ll find inside. Entrepreneur JT Besins (how is this guy not a model?!) was photographed by Peter Lindbergh and styled by Roitfeld for “Everywhere Man.”
