Natalia Vodianova for Vogue Paris: Simple and Sweet or Tame and Boring? (Forum Buzz)

Vogue28 couldn’t hide his dissatisfaction with the image. “Massive disappointment. It’s a complete and utter borefest for a March cover. This is the first black and white cover since Stéphanie de Monaco‘s guest-edited issue, non? I’m certain I would have admired this in color—Mert & Marcus’ strength,” he added.

Melancholybaby fell somewhere in the middle. He wrote, “I’m not a big fan of Natalia but this cover in all its simplicity is extremely beautiful, although not quite ‘big’ enough for March.”

Sill appreciated the minimal approach. “Love, love, love this cover,” she posted. “So simple, but so nice.”

MyNameIs also expressed appreciation for the cover shot. “Stunning. I love everything about that cover. From the picture, to how Natalia looks, to the text, to the colors (or lack thereof). Total winner in my book. And I’m loving how [Emmanuelle] Alt is able to mix up her covers too, going from opulent to something really stylized, to a beauty close-up, to something like this. Very chic.”

For the record, I fall in with the camp that loves this cover. Natalia has a beautiful glow when she’s shot in black and white and I’m a fan of hers so I love seeing new work.
