Rumors have been swirling for months that Vena Cava designers Sophie Buhai and Lisa Mayock might be forced to shutter their clothing line due to lack of financial backing, but it looks like our furtive pleas for someone to invest and save the brand have been answered! It was announced yesterday that Vena Cava entered into multi-year licensing and design agreements with LF USA, which is a subsidiary of Li & Fung Limited, a Hong Kong-headquartered multinational consumer goods export and logistics group. Vena Cava will join brands like Rachel Zoe, Ellen Tracy, Keds Apparel, Sofia Vergara, and Daisy Fuentes as part of LF USA’s Women’s Apparel Group.
Buhai and Mayock said:“We are beyond excited to take Vena Cava to the next level with the support of LF USA—the industry destination for creative partnerships. Their guidance and expertise will make it possible to execute the vision we have always had for Vena Cava. We look forward to building an amazing brand together."
We look forward to it too! Buhai and Mayock will continue to oversee the creative vision of Vena Cava, and LF USA will support the brand’s growth through their retail relationships and extensive global resources.
“That's great news!” Psylocke commented. “I'm not a huge fan of Vena Cava but I always see a few things in their collections that I really like and I think it's a shame so many young American designers are struggling financially. I find Vena Cava's designs to be quite distinct and it's good to see emerging brands like this getting the support they deserve from a group like LF USA.”
I’m thinking I’ll wear the one Vena Cava dress I own at some point this week as my own private form of celebration. You have to support the brands you love in whatever way you can. It’s nice to see that Vena Cava has been given the chance to come back from the brink.
